The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has a Manitoba Express Entry stream aligned with federal Express Entry. The programme began accepting applications in January 2018.

This pathway is for candidates who may be eligible under an MPNP stream while also meeting theExpress Entrycriteria and having an active Express Entry profile. Candidates must also have confirmed support from a close friend or relative who has lived in Manitoba for at least 1 year.
Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination through an Express Entry-aligned stream, also known as anenhanced nomination, are awarded an additional 600 pointsComprehensive Ranking System (CRS), putting them in a strong position to receive anInvitation to Apply (ITA)for permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draws.
This pathway is for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and have experience in an in-demand occupation in Manitoba. This stream may also be for candidates eligible under another MPNP stream.

| Education | Completion of a post-secondary programme of at least 1 year (Canadian equivalent). Where the position requires a licence or certification, the candidate must apply to the regulatory body to have their qualifications and skills assessed and/or to pass an examination. |

The process
The process for applying for Canadian permanent residence through the Express Entry pathway comprises the following steps:
- Assess eligibility according to the information on this page.
- Those who are eligible must score at least 60 points (out of 100) on theManitoba Skilled Worker Overseas points grid.
- If eligible, the candidate may create a profile in Manitoba’sexpression of interest (EOI) systemfor skilled workers.
- At this stage, the applicant becomes a candidate.
- Candidates are scored out of a maximum of 1,000 against a range of criteria under Manitoba’s own ranking system for skilled workers.
- Periodically, Manitoba immigration invites the highest-scoring candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
- This is known as a draw.
- Those invited may apply for an “enhanced” provincial nomination under the MPNP.
- Enhanced nominations are aligned with the federal Express Entry system. Successful candidates receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.
- Once the nomination is uploaded to the Express Entry profile, an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence is issued in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
- Successful candidates may then apply to the federal government for permanent resident status, with a processing time of 6 months or less in the majority of cases.
