MPNP In-Demand Occupations

The In-Demand Occupations category of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is oriented towards occupations in local demand and based on the requirements of employers in Manitoba. They select internationally trained and experienced workers with the skills needed for the local labour market.

An overview of the in-demand occupations

To identify more effectively the candidatesManitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)who meet the needs of Manitoba employers, the MPNP identifies in-demand occupations on the basis of Manitoba labour market information and occupational forecasts, as well as through direct consultation sessions with employers. The occupations listed refer to the 2021 version of theNational Occupational Classification (NOC).

The in-demand occupations list provides a regularly updated list of the occupations considered to be in demand in Manitoba.

Many of the in-demand occupations on the list are restricted to particular MPNP skilled streams, and candidates must meet the specific criteria and requirements for one of the pathways listed under each stream. Candidates working in an in-demand occupation are given priority in drawsan expression of interest (EOI).

Note

French-speaking candidates

For the purposes of applying to the MPNP, a French-speaking candidate is one whose French proficiency is equal to or higher than their English proficiency. The candidate’s language proficiency must be demonstrated by results from a language test approved by the MPNP.

Where a candidate is a French speaker and wishes to apply to the Manitoba Skilled Worker Overseas Stream, they must work in an occupation on the In-Demand Occupations List, or in the field of communications and media or education and training (at primary, secondary or post-secondary level).

The minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) requirement

The CLB levels listed in the In-Demand Occupations List are the minimums for all Skilled Worker pathways; however, some streams/pathways have higher eligibility requirements. For example, those applying under the Manitoba International Education Stream require a minimum of CLB 7 across all four skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening), whatever their occupation.
