PEI PNP holds fifth draw of 2026, issuing 114 invitations

On 21 May 2026, the PEI Office of Immigration held its fifth draw of 2026, issuing 114 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates working in occupations facing shortages and in the province’s priority sectors.

This was the fifth consecutive month in which PEI has kept to its published draw schedule, each round issuing more than a hundred invitations, according to data on the Government of Prince Edward Island website.

The draw in detail

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)issued a total of 114 invitations to eligible nomination candidates. The invitations went out through the only two pathways the province has used this year: Labour Impact and PEIExpress Entry.

Priority goes to individuals already working in the province in priority sectors and in occupations with high economic impact. International students graduating from the province’s three post-secondary institutions are also given preference in selection: the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Holland College and Collège de l’Île.

The PEI PNP has kept its selection criteria unchanged across all five draws of 2026.

The latest round again follows the draw schedule the province published at the start of the year. Of the five rounds held, four fell on the scheduled date — only the 20 March draw slipped a day from the original date of 19 March 2026. PEI is the only province or territory in Canada to publish an annual draw schedule, allowing candidates to plan their immigration more transparently.

If PEI continues to follow the schedule, the next draws will fall on 18 June 2026 and 16 July 2026. The province notes that these dates are indicative only and not a commitment.

How the PEI PNP process works

Those wishing to immigrate through the PEI PNP must create an account on the province’s website and submit anExpression of Interest (EOI)for assessment by the Office of Immigration, which ranks candidates on their ability to meet local economic and labour market needs.

The PEI EOI system considers a range of factors, including English or French language ability, education (level, field of study and place of completion), skill level and work experience, strategic priorities addressing the province’s most pressing labour needs, and other factors bearing on employment prospects such as holding a local job offer or having Canadian work experience.

Once an application is submitted, candidates can check its status by logging in to the EOI system. Those who receive an invitation have 30 calendar days to file a complete provincial nomination application — down from the previous 60-day window. After receiving a provincial nomination, candidates may file a permanent residence application with the federal government.Studying in Prince Edward Islandremains one of the province’s preferred routes, as local graduates typically enjoy an advantage in PNP draws.
