Alberta issues 1,051 AAIP invitations across four draws in May 2026

Between 1 May 2026 and 13 May 2026, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held four draws, according to data published on the Government of Alberta website. A total of 1,051 invitations were issued, to healthcare and technology professionals and to workers intending to live and work in the province’s rural communities.

At the time of these draws,AAIPhad held a total of 36 selection rounds in 2026. The four most recent issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through four different streams and pathways.

The four draws in detail

The largest number of invitations went to theAlberta Opportunity Stream (AOS)with 832 invitations, roughly 79.2% of all invitations issued during the month. The remaining pathways were the Accelerated Tech Pathway and the Dedicated Health Care Pathway — both under theExpress Entry Alberta— and theRural Renewal Stream.

Compared with the previous month, the AAIP’s selection pattern continues to follow its priority sectors. In April 2026, Alberta issued 62 Health Care invitations on 13 April, 146 Tech invitations on 8 April, 447 AOS invitations on 10 April and 74 Rural Renewal invitations on 9 April. The four May draws show the province substantially increasing AOS invitations against the equivalent April round while reducing Rural Renewal invitations.

Since the start of the year, Alberta has issued no fewer than 6,269 AAIP invitations, the majority through the Alberta Opportunity Stream with 3,857.

Nomination allocation and places remaining

According to data current to 14 May 2026, Alberta had used 2,191 of the 6,403 nomination places allocated to the province byImmigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), leaving 4,212 places in total. The province also publishes a detailed breakdown by stream.

Beyond the standard PNP quota, Alberta also uses additional nomination places to attract practice-ready physicians, with 50 places, and Francophone candidates, with 12.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) and applications in progress

Alberta’s published data also shows the number of Expressions of Interest (EOI) and provincial nomination applications awaiting a final decision by stream. As of 14 May 2026, the province recorded a total of 40,161 worker EOIs in the candidate pool — down 1,602 from 29 April 2026. Most EOIs (63.7%) sit in the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Total applications in progress at the AAIP stood at no fewer than 1,303. The entrepreneur streams are not part of the worker EOI pool as they follow a separate assessment process. On its official website, the Government of Alberta states that priority sectors for nomination in 2026 include healthcare, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, agriculture and designated communities under the Rural Renewal Stream.
