AAIP invites candidates in healthcare, construction, and manufacturing in April

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held 5 provincial immigration draws between 17/03/2026 and 27/03/2026, issuing more than 290 invitations to apply to candidates across various streams and routes.

Invitations were issued through the following streams and routes: Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sector Route (Construction); Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sector Route (Manufacturing); Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Route; Dedicated Healthcare Pathway – outside Express Entry; and Rural Renewal Stream.

As of the time this article was posted, the AAIP has held a total of 23 draws in 2026, with the majority of invitations issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream. The latest series of draws follows 6 draws held from 26/02 to 16/03, with more than 1,400 invitations issued.

Nomination allocation by stream

The AAIP released data on how the total 2026 nomination allocation (6,403 spots) is distributed across streams and routes, as well as the number of nominations issued and remaining. The table below includes figures as of 01/04/2026:

The majority of nominations issued this year have gone through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, accounting for 53.5% of the province’s total allocation.

Expressions of interest and pending applications

Alberta released data by stream on the number of candidates in the selection pool as well as applications in the processing queue – the only province to do so. As of 01/04, there were 44,094 expressions of interest (EOI) from workers in the selection pool, excluding AAIP entrepreneur streams. Of those, 63.5% belong to the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Alberta announced in January that the province will prioritize trades in sectors such as healthcare, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation and agriculture in 2026. Rural immigration is also one of Alberta’s focal areas this year.

Provincial nomination figures

IRCC allocated Alberta a total of 6,403 nomination allocations for 2026. As of 1 April, the province has issued 1,475 nominations – leaving 4,928 nomination slots. There are currently 1,418 applications pending in the AAIP queue, across all streams and pathways.
