AAIP Express Entry

The AAIP Express Entry Stream allows the province of Alberta to nominate eligible candidates from the Government of Canada’s Express Entry pool. Under the AAIP Express Entry Stream, eligible candidates may be selected for nomination through general draws or, where they are highly skilled technology professionals, through the Accelerated Tech Pathway.

About AAIP Express Entry

Candidates may be selected for theAlberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)if they have strong ties to the province of Alberta or if they can support the provincial government’s economic development and diversification priorities.

Candidates nominated by a Canadian province receive an additional 600Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)points and anInvitation to Apply (ITA)to apply for permanent residence in the next draw from theExpress Entry.

About the AAIP Express Entry Stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)

Candidates may apply to the AAIP Express Entry Stream only after receiving a Notification of Interest (NOI) letter from the province. Eligible candidates are contacted directly by the AAIP through their Express Entry profile.

Only Express Entry candidates who receive an invitation or NOI letter from the AAIP may apply for provincial nomination under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

The AAIP selects candidates on the basis of the information they declare in their Express Entry profile.

• AAIP Express Entry candidates may receive an NOI letter if they:
• Hold an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
• Have expressed a wish to immigrate permanently to the province of Alberta.
• Are working in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification of the province of Alberta.

Have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300.

• In addition, the AAIP is more likely to select candidates who have one or more adaptability factors. Candidates must:
• Hold a valid job offer in the province of Alberta or have work experience there.
• Be a graduate of a post-secondary institution in the province of Alberta with a valid job offer in the province of Alberta.

Have a parent, child or sibling who is a permanent resident living in the province of Alberta, or a Canadian citizen living in the province of Alberta.

Candidates must receive an email inviting them to apply in order to apply to the programme.

The Accelerated Tech Pathway

Selection criteria for the Alberta Express Entry Stream

Candidates currently working, or holding a job offer, with a technology sector employer in the province of Alberta in an eligible technology occupation may be selected under the Accelerated Tech Pathway, a fast-track immigration programme for technology workers from across Canada and abroad.

• To be considered for this stream, AAIP Express Entry candidates must:
• Hold an active Express Entry profile with a Comprehensive Ranking System score of at least 300.
• Hold full-time employment (at least 30 hours a week) or a job offer in the province of Alberta with an Alberta technology employer in an eligible occupation.

Complete an online form with the AAIP providing information about their Express Entry profile and their technology role in the province of Alberta, once they have established that they meet these assessment criteria.

Once the candidate submits the online form, the AAIP then verifies that they meet the minimum eligibility criteria to apply.

Candidates meeting the minimum eligibility criteria receive an email from the AAIP inviting them to submit a complete application to be considered for nomination.
