The AAIP issued more than 1,000 invitations in September

On 12 September, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) invited more than 1,000 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

In addition, the province held a further 2 draws the following week. In total, more than 1,433 invitations were issued across 3 draws.

Summary of the draws

In the week from 12 to 19 September, the AAIP held 3 draws:

Alberta Opportunity Stream is designed for temporary workers working full time in Alberta with an eligible full-time job offer from an eligible Alberta employer.

The tech accelerator pathway falls under the Alberta Express Entry stream and is for eligible technology professionals working in, or holding a job offer from, Alberta in an eligible technology occupation.

Meanwhile, the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway is for candidates with a job offer from members of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police. The pathway was launched last year to help local police services meet their recruitment targets.

Candidates for Express Entry-aligned streams must meet the requirements of the federal Express Entry federal system.

Invitations and nominations not yet issued

As at 26 September, the AAIP had issued 3,983 nominations out of its annual nomination allocation of 4,875. That means the province has 892 nomination places left to allocate to candidates this year.

Earlier this month, the federal government granted Alberta a further 1,528 nomination places, raising the province’s total allocation from 4,875 to 6,403.

Although the province’s official website currently reflects the previous allocation (as in the table above), updated figures are expected to be published over the coming weeks to reflect the increase.
