NLPNP invites over 240 candidates

On 30 March 2026, Newfoundland and Labrador held its second provincial immigration draw of the year, inviting over 200 candidates.

Invitations were sent via Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

Draw summary

The end-of-month draw saw a total of 245 invitations issued through two provincial immigration programmes, with the majority going to NLPNP candidates (approximately 85%).

The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) of Newfoundland and Labrador did not disclose details on which NLPNP stream was issued invitations when posting the draw results.

Compared to the first announcement of the year (6 March), this selection round had fewer invitations for both programmes.

To date, the province has issued a total of 690 provincial immigration invitations through the NLPNP and AIP. Of this total, 571 invitations were for NLPNP candidates and 119 for AIP candidates.

Last year, Newfoundland and Labrador held its first provincial immigration announcement on 3 April (NLPNP: 206, AIP: 50) – indicating that candidate selection began earlier this year and with higher volumes. The first announcement of 2026 issued 445 invitations – 362 through the NLPNP and 83 through the AIP.

Note: As of the time of writing, the Newfoundland and Labrador OIM has not yet announced the 2026 nomination allocation. Based on allocation trends, it is reasonable to predict that the province’s 2026 nomination allocation will be at a minimum of 2,525 places based on existing models.

Last year, the province received a total of 2,525 nominations between the two immigration programmes after receiving an additional mid-year allocation from the federal government, with 2,050 places for the NLPNP and 475 for the AIP. This year, most provinces and territories have received nomination allocations at least equal to their 2025 year-end levels, if not higher.

How to be considered for an invitation

Both the province’s NLPNP and AIP have operated under an Expression of Interest (EOI) model since February 2025.

A valid job or job offer is required to immigrate through both programmes (with the exception of the province’s NLPNP entrepreneur streams).

Candidates must complete and submit a short EOI form, which collects information on: occupation; education level; language skills; and intent to reside in the province.

The Newfoundland and Labrador OIM assesses these profiles and then sends invitations to the most suitable candidates. Once an invitation is received, the candidate or employer can submit a full application to the province.

Applications must be submitted within 60 days of receiving an invitation to apply; once submitted, the application enters the full assessment process. EOI profiles remain in the pool for 12 months, after which they expire and must be resubmitted.
