BC PNP issues more than 400 invitations to apply in two consecutive draws

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Programme (BC PNP) has issued no fewer than 474 invitations to apply (ITAs) over two consecutive draw days — for both skilled workers and entrepreneurs seeking permanent residence in the province.

The majority of invitations to apply under the Skills Immigration (SI) stream were issued to workers selected based on their potential to make a strong economic impact on the province.

Most invitations to apply under the Entrepreneur Immigration stream were issued under the base category, with a smaller number going to the province’s regional category.

10 February: Entrepreneur Immigration

On 10 February, BC PNP issued no fewer than 14 invitations to apply across both Entrepreneur Immigration streams, with priority given to candidates under the base category:

The British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration — Base Category allows candidates to establish or acquire a business anywhere in British Columbia. This stream has higher financial requirements (a minimum net worth of CAD$600,000 and an investment of CAD$200,000) and typically does not require a community referral, as it is not tied to a specific participating town or region.

The Entrepreneur Immigration — Regional Category is designed for entrepreneurs looking to establish a new business in a participating regional community, and usually requires an exploratory visit along with a community referral. This category has lower minimum thresholds (a net worth of around CAD$300,000 and an investment of CAD$100,000), typically requires at least 51% ownership, and generally expects candidates to provide language results earlier in the process than the base category.

11 February: Skilled Immigration

On 11 February, the BC PNP issued 460 invitations to apply to skilled workers identified by the province as having the potential for “high economic impact”.

To qualify in this draw, candidates needed to meet one of the following conditions:

• A minimum salary of CAD$62/hour and CAD$125,000/year, along with a job offer in an occupation classified under National Occupational Classification (NOC) Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) categories 0, 1, 2 or 3; or
• A minimum score of 135 points.
