MPNP Business Investor Stream (BIS)

The Business Investor Stream (BIS) of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is designed to attract experienced business owners and entrepreneurs wishing to establish a business or farm in Manitoba.

Overview

The Business Investor Stream (BIS) is a branch of theManitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), a stream that allows the MPNP to recruit and nominate eligible international business investors and entrepreneurs who have the intention and ability to start or acquire a business in Manitoba or to partner in an existing business.

Business immigration to Manitoba may allow you to live and work in Winnipeg, the provincial capital and largest city of the province. The BIS comprises the following business immigration pathways:

• The Entrepreneur Pathway
• The Farm Investor Pathway

The Entrepreneur Pathway was previously known as the Manitoba Business Stream (MPNP-B) and is for candidates wishing to establish a business in Manitoba. The Farm Investor Pathway replaces the former Farm Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

As a result of the MPNP’s renewal in 2017, the programme introduced an interim application process for applications accepted under the two BIS pathways for experienced entrepreneurs and farm business owners who can support themselves and their work in Manitoba.

Both Manitoba BIS pathways operate under anExpression of Interest (EOI) system, under which prospective candidates submit their intention to apply before they may apply to the programme. Whether a prospective candidate is interested in applying as an Entrepreneur or a Farm Investor, the EOI must be submitted after a research visit to the province.

The MPNP’s interim process of completing online forms will end once the programme’s online application system is upgraded and ready to handle applications.

The Manitoba Entrepreneur Pathway is a branch of the Business Investor Stream of the province of Manitoba under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). Through this pathway, Manitoba is able to select and nominate eligible business professionals from overseas who have the intention and the financial capacity to move to the province and establish or acquire a business, or partner with an existing business in Manitoba.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has an Entrepreneur Pathway linked to the province’s expression of interest (EOI) pool. Eligible candidates create an EOI by setting up an online profile, which is scored on the basis of the answers provided in the self-assessment form.

Farm Investor

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has a Farm Investor Pathway (FIP) replacing the Farm Strategic Recruitment Initiative (FSRI). This pathway sits within the Manitoba Business Investor Stream and allows individuals with farm business experience together with sufficient capital to immigrate in order to establish and operate a farm in the province.

Around 12% of Canada’s agricultural land is in Manitoba, mainly in southern Manitoba. Successful FIP candidates are expected to establish a farm business in rural Manitoba, producing primary agricultural products consistent with the province’s current farm industry. The type of business and investment must correlate with the province’s statistics and be consistent with the Manitoba farm industry.

Farm Investor Pathway candidates must be eligible to apply to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).
