NSNP Occupations In Demand

The NSNP Occupations In Demand stream is a three-year pilot programme for candidates holding an eligible job offer in a targeted intermediate-skilled occupation.

NSNP Occupations In Demand overview

Introduced in May 2019, the Occupations In Demand stream of theNova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP)is used to nominate workers in occupations with “high labour demand” in Nova Scotia for Canadian permanent residence.

The occupations targeted through this stream may change as labour market needs in the province develop.

The stream is currently open to eligible candidates holding a full-time, permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in the following occupations, all of which are considered Skill Level C under Canada’sNational Occupational Classification (NOC):

• NOC 3413 — Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates;
• NOC 6513 — Food and beverage servers;
• NOC 6711 — Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations;
• NOC 6731 — Light duty cleaners;
• NOC 7511 — Transport truck drivers;
• NOC 7521 — Heavy equipment operators (except crane);
• NOC 7611 — Construction trades helpers and labourers.

Eligibility requirements for the Occupations In Demand stream

Candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Occupations In Demand stream:

• One year of work experience relevant to the job;
• Be aged between 21 and 55;
• Hold a secondary school qualification (or its foreign equivalent);
• Hold the appropriate training, skills and/or certification for the job;
• Language ability equivalent toCanadian Language Benchmark (CLB)level 4, evidenced by official language test results;
• Have sufficient financial resources to settle successfully in Nova Scotia.

Work experience and transferable skills are verified through employer reference letters and supporting employment documents.
