Overview
The fees charged byImmigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)are currently adjusted upwards every 2 years for all Applications for Permanent Residence (APR), including the economic, permit holder, family and humanitarian classes, in order to keep pace with inflation. The following fee list was updated on 4 April 2025.
Many Canadian immigration visa offices accept government processing fees in local currency. This value may change with fluctuating exchange rates. The fee tables in the following pages should therefore be used as a guide only. Contact your local embassy for the most up-to-date figures.
Canadian government fees must be paid at the same time as your Application for Permanent Residence (APR) and may be refunded at any point before a Canadian immigration visa officer begins assessing the application.
Where provincial fees are required, they must be paid at the time of applying to the province. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) may be paid at any point before the Canadian immigration (permanent residence) visa is issued, and is refunded if, for any reason, you do not become a Canadian permanent resident.
All Canadian visa Applications for Permanent Residence (APR) submitted at designated intake offices in Canada, and the associated processing fees, must be paid in Canadian dollars (CAD).
The principal applicant and an accompanying spouse or common-law partner must pay this fee at any point before the Canadian immigration visa is issued. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) may be paid inside or outside Canada, as the case may be. If paying outside Canada, you should check with the Canadian visa office processing the application to establish which currency to use for the RPRF.
In addition to the Application for Permanent Residence (APR) fees, you may have to pay costs relating to a medical examination and, where required, notarising or translating documents into French or English, or having foreign qualifications assessed for equivalence by a designated Canadian assessment body.

Biometrics
The Government of Canada states that, in addition to the standard visa processing fee, a biometrics processing fee applies. Authorised Visa Application Centre (VAC) staff collect the applicant’s fingerprints and photograph (biometrics) once the biometrics fee has been paid.
