NEXUS

The Canada Nexus Card is a card provided by the Nexus programme, a joint initiative between the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

This card is designed to expedite border clearance for low-risk travellers who have been pre-approved for travel between Canada and the United States by air, land, or sea.

Nexus members benefit from dedicated lanes at 20 land border crossings, self-service kiosks at 9 major international airports in Canada, and an expedited reporting process by phone when arriving by boat.

To hold a Nexus card, applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Canada or the United States, or Mexican nationals under the Viajero Confiable programme, and must pass a background check and an in-person interview.

The card costs US$120, is free for children under 18, and is valid for 5 years. Additionally, the Nexus card provides access to the United States Global Entry programme and TSA PreCheck, helping to save time when entering the United States or passing through airport security. This is an ideal choice for those who frequently cross the border between the two countries.
